Provision the roaming client for your roaming computers
What is the Umbrella roaming client?
The Umbrella roaming client is the lightweight agent that keeps your laptop connected to the Cisco Umbrella global network so no matter where you are in the world you’ll receive the protection of Umbrella.
For a full guide to installing and configuring roaming clients including mass deployments and hidden installations, refer to the Roaming Client Installation Guide.
Step 1 - Download the Roaming Client
You can download the roaming client for your laptop or desktop using the Umbrella dashboard. In the dashboard, navigate to Configuration -> Identities -> Roaming Computers , and select Provision Roaming Computers.
Select the Windows or the Mac client, depending which operating system you’re using, and click Download.
Step 2 - Install the Umbrella Roaming Client
Once the install completes, the roaming client will start immediately. An icon will appear in your system tray (unless it is hidden during installation), and your laptop will be automatically registered to your Umbrella account.
Step 3 - Verify Client is operational
You can verify that your computer has been registered correctly by returning to Identities > Roaming Computers. The hostname of the computer should appear in the list.
Your computer is now protected by the default policy. Next, customize your protection and filtering by creating a unique Umbrella policy
