Overview
In some situations, installing the Umbrella roaming client on a Windows computer will cause the DNS record for the computer to disappear from the local DNS server, preventing the computer from being reached by other computers via its hostname. This is due to an issue with the DNS service on the host itself, and not actually caused by the Umbrella roaming client.
We find this issue is rarely present in a network environment, and only recommend that you continue reading if you've already installed the Umbrella roaming client and are experiencing this issue.
Explanation and Resolution
The service is seeing that the DNS server has changed and is telling the previous DNS server to wipe its record, and then it tries to register with the new DNS server. The Umbrella roaming client sets the DNS server to 127.0.0.1, and it cannot be used to update a local DNS record.
Fortunately, Microsoft has a hotfix for this. Please follow the instructions in the link below and that should resolve the issue.
