Introduction
To take advantage of domain lists and minimize the work involved, try to use wildcards where appropriate. Here we explain how to implement wildcards in the Umbrella dashboard.
Explanation
In the Umbrella dashboard, wildcards are implicitly placed in front of any domain you add to an allow or block list. Therefore there is no need to add additional punctuation when adding a wildcard.
Example:
If you add google.com to your allow list, any site that ends in *.google.com will be allowed on your network such as images.google.com, news.google.com etc.
If you only wish to block a subdomain like news.google.com, then add the entire FQDN. Then only "news.google.com" will be blocked and not any other subdomains of Google.
