We are excited to announce some enhanced controls in the Umbrella dashboard for Secure Web Gateway (SWG) module configuration to provide our customers with even greater security and flexibility for Roaming computers.
1. Enable SWG protection in case of dual stack IPv4 and IPv6 servers with the "Send IPv6 traffic through the Secure Web Gateway" setting.
Your Internet traffic going over IPv6 in the case when destination servers operate on a dual-stack IPv4/IPv6 network can now be protected by Umbrella. By enabling this setting, your IPv6 connections to dual stack IPv4/IPv6 servers will be fully protected by SWG, maintaining the integrity and security of your network.
2. Enable uninterrupted access to the Internet with the "Secure Web Gateway Fail-Open" setting
We recognize how critical uninterrupted Internet access is for your operations. Should the SWG module be unable to reach Umbrella, it can now be configured to 'fail open'. This means that in the rare event of a connectivity issue to Umbrella servers, you can choose to have your Internet connection remain uninterrupted, allowing direct access to the Internet. Alternatively, you can opt to disable the setting, which ensures that no outbound Internet connections are allowed until full SWG functionality is restored, for those who prioritize security above all else.
These enhanced controls are designed to provide you with peace of mind, knowing that your Internet security is robust, reliable, and responsive to the specific needs of your organization.
