IMPACT: Roaming client users on our beta and release candidate release tracks on version 2.2.105 may experience a client issue for Windows 7 users. Windows 8 and Windows 10 users are not impacted. Symptoms include the client persistently reporting "Waiting for Service" without off network protection. This issue was discovered late last week and a rapid patch has been applied for version 2.2.109.
No production users are impacted or affected nor has 2.2.105 been released to production.
RESOLUTION: An immediate fix for this issue has been developed and is available for download here. Impacted Windows 7 machines must be manually updated with the above release to version 2.2.109 or reinstalled to a lower version. These machines will not auto upgrade. Affected users may download the updated release file using the link above.

Were any production release machines affected?
No. This issue was discovered in a pre-release build before being released to production. No production release machines were impacted nor received this software update. Only organizations and machines electing to our release candidate software were updated to version 2.2.105. Of the machines upgraded to 2.2.105, only certain Windows 7 machines were affected by this issue.
What was the symptom?
Affected machines will not sync into the dashboard and will not apply roaming policy correctly. Internal domains will continue to function. The user interface will read "Waiting for Service". Umbrella protection will not apply until this issue is resolved.
What are the steps to resolve this issue?
Unfortunately, affected machines must reinstall the roaming client version 2.2.107 (or higher) or 2.1.127 (production). This issue is isolated in the pre-release 2.2.105 client version on Windows 7 machines.

What steps are being taken to avoid such an update issue in the future?
A thorough test lab is already underway to automatically detect such an issue. With expanded automated testing, every supported edition of every supported operating system will be validated automatically with each build. Additionally, we are working one some additional in-dashboard notifications of releases and will modify our release notes to include a direct link to our pre-release software the day it is released.
