Starting Tuesday May 28th, we'll be pushing out a change to the delegated administration to reflect this change for a specific role, the role of "Deployments." The change is 'opt-in' for existing users and if you do not use the Umbrella role-based administration, there is no change.
The purpose of the new Deployments custom user role is to expand the previous Identities custom user role to cover more of the Umbrella dashboard, specifically adding more of the functionality available under the Deployments section in the left hand-navigation.
There are two scenarios for deploying the new Deployments customer user role. Either a customer is already using the existing “Identities” role or they are upgrading an “Identities” role already in use to the new “Deployments” role.
Scenario 1: Upgrade an existing role
In this scenario, you have already created a custom role that is using the Identities permission and will be upgraded to the Deployments permission for that role.
Once the new role is enabled for the org by your Umbrella rep, the administrator must do the following.
Log in to the dashboard, and check the name of the custom role that was assigned for the Identities role under the Accounts section:
In this example, the user “Helpdesk Rollout User” is assigned the Role “The old Identities role”.
Next, go to User Roles and select the existing role for the Identities user. There should be some red lettering indicating you must save the role for the upgrade to take effect.
Uncheck and then re-check the “Deployments” role, then click Save:
When you re-open the UI, the note about upgrading should no longer be there and the role will be upgraded. Existing users with the old “Identities” role assigned will automatically be transitioned to the new role.
Scenario 2: The dashboard does not already have a custom role using the old Identities role
In this scenario, your role will be automatically upgraded without any steps required as no one is currently using the Identities permission in a role.
Simply create a new user role as you normally would, selecting the “Deployments” as a part of that role, then assign the role to users.
