Overview
SafeSearch is a functionality within major search engines to limit the results of search content to be void of adult content. For more details about SafeSearch enforcement within Umbrella, please see our documentation on applying SafeSearch here.
If you are not currently applying SafeSearch in your policy settings, this article does not apply to you. If you are enforcing SafeSearch and intend to use it for Chromebook clients please continue reading.
Chromebook Clients
At this time, Chromebook clients are not able to apply SafeSearch settings. While SafeSearch will still be active on the Chromebook policy, it will not apply to Chromebook devices.
Exception: VA + Trusted Network Detection
When Chromebooks are configured for trusted network detection, and enter the trusted network state behind a configured Virtual Appliance, Chromebook identity-based SafeSearch settings will apply for the duration of the trusted network detection mode. This allows Umbrella-based SafeSearch settings to apply on network.
