Due to the recent events surrounding COVID-19, the internet has seen a rise in malicious activity related to the pandemic.
Cisco Umbrella analyzes billions of Internet requests from our customers and makes decisions on convicting malicious domains or IP addresses using our statistical models to help protect our users. These statistical models are modified as needed to keep in pace with the latest threats and trends in malware campaigns and will make convictions that are relevant to today's threats even when threat actors change their tactics depending on the current theme that may be used to entice victims.
Please visit the following link to learn more about the statistical models at work in our product: https://umbrella.cisco.com/why-umbrella/interactive-intelligence.
Important Notice: The submission process to have domains/IP addresses/URLs reviewed for maliciousness is not meant to be used as a means to analyze massive datasets (such as large lists of domains).
Newly Seen Domains: As part of Cisco Umbrella intelligence, some domains may be blocked as Newly Seen Domains (NSD). Newly created domains related to COVID-19 will also be flagged as NSD as long as they fit the criteria. For more information on Newly Seen Domains, please see https://support.umbrella.com/hc/en-us/articles/235911828-Newly-Seen-Domains-Security-Category.
