The Cisco Umbrella Chromebook Client (UCC) app version 1.3.10 optimizes the client re-registration flow. When a customer license expires, UCC app registration with Umbrella cloud fails. The UCC app then continues for 14 days attempts to register with the Umbrella cloud (previously 3 days). After 14 days, if the registration request still fails then the UCC app stops requesting registration. Customers who renew their licenses after 14 days must re-deploy the UCC Extension and app in order to enable protection.
Basic protection continues in effect even when registration request fails; the Umbrella Chromebook Client app continues to send DNS requests to the Umbrella cloud to offer basic protection. When registration fails, or the license otherwise expires, content-based policies will not be in effect for that client. For more information, see What Happens When My Umbrella License Expires.
