In September 2020, Cisco announced the end-of-support for the Cisco Umbrella Chromebook client Version 1.x.x software - Umbrella Chromebook Client App or the App in alignment with Google’s end of support for Chrome Apps.
This notice provides updated information and dates to our Umbrella Chromebook Client App customers.
End of Support and Availability
Google announced the End of Support (EoS) for Chrome apps in their end of support communication. The Umbrella Chromebook Client App will no longer be available for use as of June 2022.
Starting June 2021 through June 2022, Cisco support for the Umbrella Chromebook Client App will only include available severity 1 and security vulnerability fixes. Support, including maintenance will require an active Umbrella service contract.
Product Migration Options
Cisco is developing an Android app based replacement for Chromebooks as the migration option for customers affected by Google’s EOS. This Android app based client is planned to be released for early field trial (EFT) customers by Apr 2021. Please email email@example.com if you are interested in getting access to the EFT software client.
When the Android app based client is ready for General Availability, this notification will be updated with a link to the new client app and with deployment documentation. This new app will be available at no additional cost to customers using the Umbrella Chromebook client v1.x.x.
